Chrome Apps for Mobile Updated

Chrome Apps for Mobile Updated

Google updated their Chrome Apps for Mobile project yesterday.

New APIs allow access to rich notifications, Cloud Messaging and identity. They have also enabled Chromium WebView for old versions of Android (4.0 up). This will allow Web Developers to easily create Web Apps that can be packaged for iOS and Google Play. It will be possible to write an application once and deploy across Mobile and Desktops that support Chrome. As always, the proof will be in the pudding and generally these packaged apps do not perform nearly as well as a native app. There are of course performance trade offs but it's the holy grail. Bring the openess of the web across devices as native apps.
