Puppet Labs gets into bed with Windows
Microsoft's flagship bats eyelids at DevOps darlings
The Redmond giant's recent shift towards open-source code is one indication of the new direction. Its maturing cloud platform Azure is another, with enterprise licenses now including free Azure credits. Moreover, Powershell's new Desired State Configuration management tools dovetail nicely with DevOps goals.
The upshot is that Windows now offers access to the kind of automation functionality previously restricted to Linux developers. Puppet now plans to tap into this vast userbase with a suite a Windows tools, including a new SQL Server deployment and management automation module.
It's a move likely to prove popular with Microsoft and Web developers alike.
